‘Wonder Woman’ Opens In Theaters, Shattering Records!

Wonder Woman has finally arrived in theaters in her first headlining movie, with the highly anticipated opening this weekend of the fourth film in the DC Extended Universe, following Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Suicide Squad, and setting up Justice League for this fall.

Gal Gadot stars as pop culture’s most iconic female hero, reprising her role after debuting as Diana/Wonder Woman in last year’s Dawn of Justice.

The film is already a smashing success with both critics and audiences, earning an estimated $100.5 million in the U.S. during opening weekend, ranking it as the highest domestic opening ever for a female director. Internationally, it earned an estimated $122.5 million, thus bringing its estimated worldwide earning to $223 million for its first weekend.

Also a huge hit with critics, it is certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a 95% rating, and has a rare A grade on CinemaScore.

The official synopsis: Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman also stars Chris Pine (Star Trek) as Steve Trevor, Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta, Robin Wright as Antiope, and Elena Anaya as Doctor Poison, along with David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Ewen Bremner, and Said Taghmaoui.

Wonder Woman is now playing in theaters everywhere.
